Roger Federer sets his sight at the Indian Wells title ? Tennis News

Roger Federer, the 31-year-old Swiss superstar, is eyeing yet another glory at the BNP Paribas Open which will be hosted at the hard courts of Indian Wells. It has been a topsy turvy season for the second ranked Swiss tar who reached the semi-final at the Australian Open in Melbourne. He disposed off Benoit Paire, Nikolay Davydenko, Bernard Tomic and Milos Raonic in straight sets to book a date with the French big gun, Jo-Wilfried Tsonga. He won two tie-breakers in an enthralling five-setter to beat the Frenchman and but failed to win more than a set against the number one Englishman, Andy Murray.

Commenting about his performance at the Australian Open, the legendary Swiss tennis icon stated, ?I think I played really well in Australia.?

He was the top seed at the ABN AMRO at Rotterdam and expected to win the contest without any problem but the quarter-final upset at the hands of the Julien Benneteau ended his run. It was a disappointing loss for someone who was the best player in the draw. He lost to an unseeded player and that too in straight sets which were a major shock.

The second seed Federer faced a shock at the Dubai Duty Free Championships semi-final as well; lost from the third seed Czech star, Tomas Berdych.

He further added about his performance over the course of 2013, ?Rotterdam, I was disappointed with. I felt I could have done better. Dubai was a bit unfortunate, losing with three match points and having to explain the loss when you feel you should be preparing for the final. What happened, happened. I?m playing fine. Obviously I hoped to have won a tournament by now, but I?m happy with my game."

Talking about the comeback of Rafael Nadal and seeing him in the same draw after a major delay, Federer said, ?I only just saw him yesterday after my practice. I was really excited to see him again. We hadn?t had much contact. I think he wanted to get away from it all, which I really understand.?

The inclusion of Nadal will definitely deteriorate the odds of Federer winning the title.
