Federal government revises construction industry guidelines ...

// March 14th, 2012 at 12:13 pm

The construction industry has once again been recognised as integral to the success of the Australian economy.

In a statement issued earlier this month, minister for employment and workplace relations Bill Shorten emphasised its importance.

"The building and construction industry remains a critical sector of our economy, with immediate and direct impact on jobs, growth and productivity," Mr Shorten said.

The federal government has made some changes to the Implementation Guidelines for the National Code of Practice for the Construction Industry.

Applying for funding can be costly and time-consuming for construction businesses. The purpose of these new guidelines is to make the process easier and cost-effective, encouraging more companies to apply.

This will create healthy competition amongst tenders for precious funding.

"These guidelines will help more people improve their business processes and be competitive in securing government-funded contracts in the building and construction sector," Mr Shorten said.

Industry insiders are to be consulted before these guidelines are implemented on May 1.
