A major draft federal report concludes that climate change is already affecting U.S. residents through heat waves, droughts and other changes, and warns that temperatures could increase as much as 10 degrees Fahrenheit if global carbon emissions keep soaring. The third National Climate Assessment, released Friday, said there?s ?unambiguous evidence? that earth is warming, and that climate change over the past 50 years is driven primarily by human activity, especially from burning fossil fuels. ?Certain types of weather events have become more frequent and/or intense, including heat waves,

A leading House Democrat urged Vice President Biden Friday not to ignore mental health issues as his panel grapples with U.S. gun violence. Rep. Henry Waxman (D-Calif.), the top Democrat on the Energy and Commerce Committee, wrote to Biden recommending better gun-safety standards, more research applying a public-health perspective to gun violence and greater mental health coverage for people in the United States. "Experts agree: the prevalence of guns and gun violence in our society is not just a criminal justice problem; it is also a public health and safety problem,"

In the news business, no one is safe - not even senior editors at The New York Times. The media business was shaken on Friday when it was reported, first in New York Magazine and confirmed by POLITICO, that managing editor John Geddes, assistant managing editors Jim Roberts and Susan Edgerly, former Washington editor Rick Berke, and former Times Magazine editor Jerry Mazorati could all be casualties of the Times? effort to cut costs. ?It is hard to imagine there are too many sacred cows left in any newsroom, given the general state of our industry,?

When Secretary of State Hillary Rodham Clinton leaves her post as the nation?s top diplomat this year, she will step into a new role: presidential front-runner. Clinton is the leading contender to win the presidency in 2016 should she decide to run, but New Jersey Gov. Chris Christie is the one Republican with a shot at defeating her, according to a new poll. Clinton leads Christie 44-42 percent, the Public Policy Polling survey found. Clinton, 65, who was recently hospitalized with a blood clot near her brain, trounces all other GOP contenders. In early hypothetical match-ups, she leads Wisconsin

Washington ?As Vice President Biden prepares to hand in a set of recommendations to curb gun violence next week and pro-gun groups dig in their heels, the vice president has put in play the possibility of using executive action to get controversial gun control measures on the books. Analysts and political scholars tell FoxNews.com that if the president goes through with his threat to circumvent Congress and issue executive orders, he is likely to face an expensive uphill legal battle ? on the taxpayers? dime. But while pro-gun lobbyists have vowed to challenge

In remarks with Afghan president Hamid Karzai at the White House this afternoon, President Barack Obama said the U.S. has fallen "short of the ideal" in Afghanistan: "So, you know, I think that, have we achieved everything that some might have imagined us achieving in the best of scenarios? Probably not. You know, there?s a human enterprise, and you know, you fall short of the ideal," said Obama. The president went on to say that America has achieved some measure of success in Afghanistan, however. "Did we achieve our central goal? And have we been able, I think,

An earlier post today indicated shock at how rather?cheap the Obama Oval Office appeared in a recent photo. From the colors to the wall art to the what may very well be the worst drapes of any current national leader in the entire world. (They really are that bad) So let?s take a quick compare contrast of today?s Barack Obama Oval Office and compare it to some past presidents. Here is the photo of today?s Oval Office that caused many to remark at how badly the decorating was. Note the odd linoleum-looking table

The sweepstakes to become the site of the future Barack Obama presidential library is underway with universities in Chicago and Hawaii the apparent frontrunners. The University of Hawaii, where Obama?s parents attended college, has made the most public effort ? purportedly talking to officials at existing presidential libraries and at the National Archives, which plays an A-to-Z role from supplying artifacts to running the facilities. However, the University of Chicago, where Obama was a law professor for 12 years, is widely expected to be chosen, despite making no public comments about its reported interest.
