How did Ray Lewis go from
murder suspect in 2000 to
NFL royalty in 2013?

Thirteen years ago, Ray Lewis was in the back of a limousine speeding down an Atlanta street, leaving the chaos of what would become a notorious murder scene. Today, Ray Lewis prepares to play his final minutes in the NFL as one of the most celebrated and iconic players in league history. These are two sets of indisputable facts, facts that don?t seem to connect in any meaningful way. To accept one set, you have to virtually ignore the other. It just doesn?t make sense, no matter which angle you take. How does a man implicated in a double homicide end up receiving a congratulatory bear hug

Comments:
This is what I think of whenever I see Ray Lewis. He?s sure not royalty in my humble opinion.

Kinda the same with Kobe and OJ. Rich game players with poor moral compasses. Too bad they are role models for the black community

I dunno, I?ve seen some interviews of Ray Lewis. Whatever his past may be (no charges were brought against him), he has become -- he has made himself into -- a remarkable man. He works, he studies, he plans, he sets a terrific example for the young players around him.

A lot of the players in the NFL are little more than highly paid thugs. Mr. Lewis has made himself into something much more than that. In terms of role models, I?d say he?s exactly what the young men in the black community need to see.

From what I?ve "heard," Lewis is the real deal. He turned it around. I hope that it?s true.

A real role model....I believe he also has 6 children by four different women. Our values suck these days.

I found the article?s writing to be beautiful.

Journalism at its best.

As for Lewis ...

... I will leave that to God.

When they interviewed him at the end of the game, he said something like "Man can do things that are possible, God can do the impossible."

I do not know who Ray Lewis was, but I do know that for the past two games, Mr. Lewis has laid his success at the feet of God. Not Allah or some non-denomintational spiritual being - but the God of the Christian Bible. He had a shirt with Psalms 91 on it. Intrigued, this questing agnostic went and read it and and found something powerful. He is leaving his (still viable) football career to be a full-time dad. I do not know who he was, but I respect who he is.

I?m with the folks who appreciate the man Ray Lewis has been in recent years. Consummate professional, great team leader, and always giving the glory to God. I say this after he broke my heart this evening.

The man who murdered Stephen, one of the original 12 disciples, went on to write most of the New Testament. It?s a matter of grace.

President Obama delivered an emotional speech about protecting America?s children in December in response to the shooting at Sandy Hook Elementary school in Newtown, Connecticut. But the producers at Blackstone Films have turned that speech into a remarkable video to reflect on the duty of Americans to protect our nation?s unborn children. It?s a very powerful video that is sure to spark some controversy. The video promotes the March for Life in Washington D.C. ? although the video includes a disclaimer that it is ?not endorsed by or affiliated with the March for Life Education and

Rapid reaction from the Ravens? 38-35 double overtime victory over the Broncos, viewing it from a Patriots? perspective: Stunning turn of events. The winner of Sunday?s Patriots-Texans divisional-round playoff game will now host the AFC Championship game (6:30 p.m. ET) as a result of the fourth-seeded Ravens shocking the top-seeded Broncos. Few saw this result coming. If the Patriots beat the Texans, it sets up a rematch of last year?s AFC title game. Ravens? mental toughness shines. Few gave the Ravens a realistic chance to win, but their big-play offense and veteran defense helped overcome

U.S. Vice President Joe Biden, who is leading an administration review of gun safety laws, has offered to talk with any families of the Connecticut elementary school shooting victims who would like to speak with personally, a support group said Saturday. The group, Sandy Hook Promise, has been working to help the families whose loved ones were killed in the December 14 massacre of 20 first-graders and six women at Sandy Hook Elementary in Newtown, Connecticut. It said in an email to the families that it could arrange a call or put the families in touch directly with Biden?s office.

A leading House Democrat urged Vice President Biden Friday not to ignore mental health issues as his panel grapples with U.S. gun violence. Rep. Henry Waxman (D-Calif.), the top Democrat on the Energy and Commerce Committee, wrote to Biden recommending better gun-safety standards, more research applying a public-health perspective to gun violence and greater mental health coverage for people in the United States. "Experts agree: the prevalence of guns and gun violence in our society is not just a criminal justice problem; it is also a public health and safety problem,"

When Secretary of State Hillary Rodham Clinton leaves her post as the nation?s top diplomat this year, she will step into a new role: presidential front-runner. Clinton is the leading contender to win the presidency in 2016 should she decide to run, but New Jersey Gov. Chris Christie is the one Republican with a shot at defeating her, according to a new poll. Clinton leads Christie 44-42 percent, the Public Policy Polling survey found. Clinton, 65, who was recently hospitalized with a blood clot near her brain, trounces all other GOP contenders. In early hypothetical match-ups, she leads Wisconsin

In remarks with Afghan president Hamid Karzai at the White House this afternoon, President Barack Obama said the U.S. has fallen "short of the ideal" in Afghanistan: "So, you know, I think that, have we achieved everything that some might have imagined us achieving in the best of scenarios? Probably not. You know, there?s a human enterprise, and you know, you fall short of the ideal," said Obama. The president went on to say that America has achieved some measure of success in Afghanistan, however. "Did we achieve our central goal? And have we been able, I think,

The sweepstakes to become the site of the future Barack Obama presidential library is underway with universities in Chicago and Hawaii the apparent frontrunners. The University of Hawaii, where Obama?s parents attended college, has made the most public effort ? purportedly talking to officials at existing presidential libraries and at the National Archives, which plays an A-to-Z role from supplying artifacts to running the facilities. However, the University of Chicago, where Obama was a law professor for 12 years, is widely expected to be chosen, despite making no public comments about its reported interest.
